Charlotte Waschmann-Schleth

I want to help ensure that education doesn't divide but unites – through participatory formats and shared responsibility.

After working as an intern at Wider Sense at the end of last year, Charlotte is now supporting the Wider Sense TraFo team as a working student. In her new role, she is working on two projects in the education sector: the National Education Forum and the Educational Justice Initiative. Her focus is on event management and communication.

Charlotte gained practical insights into development policy and social education work early on – for example, through her voluntary work at an NGO in Cambodia and at a center for intellectual development in Germany. Her commitment continued with Amnesty International Germany, where, as part of the nationwide youth representation, she organized workshops and educational events on intersectional social injustice and contributed to the Expert Commission for Public Relations and Human Rights Education. These activities not only gave her insight into NGO structures and civil society processes but also provided the opportunity to expand her skills in project management and digital communication. Charlotte now intends to apply the knowledge and experience she has gained to her work at Wider Sense TraFo to further develop and successfully implement participatory formats.

Charlotte completed her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Georg-August University Göttingen and is currently continuing her studies at the Master’s level at Freie Universität Berlin. She is particularly interested in topics such as international relations, international law, human rights, and social justice. In addition to her studies, Charlotte has completed numerous workshops and training courses – including on anti-discrimination, education and social inequality, project management, intercultural communication, and moderation.

Why did you choose working for Wider Sense?

Social progress starts with asking the right questions. At Wider Sense, I find space to ask these questions - and to develop answers together with committed partners.

What is a random fact about you?

Between university, activism, and work, I find my balance outdoors in nature - preferably out and about with my dog.
