Christian Schrade

It's not easy to communicate all the news when your colleagues do so much good.

Christian Schrade, Head of Communications at Wider Sense

Christian Schrade is in charge of communication for Wider Sense and Wider Sense TraFo. As a press officer, he informs journalists about trends, studies and news on all our topics and projects – from corporate voluntiering to waste prevention to European philanthropy to cultural education. As a communications consultant, he supports our team in client projects with strategic advise and practical answers how to fit content into messages that reach as many people as possible.

For this, Christian Schrade brings more than 10 years of professional experience in the communications industry: He learned the journalistic craft from scratch at two daily newspapers. At a PR agency in Berlin, he was responsible for nationwide campaigns for federal ministries, associations and organisations. As press spokesman, he helped shape the public relations work of a German federal authority. Most recently, he ran his own brand-building agency, which supported international clients in brand-building for high-quality beverages.

After several years in product communication, Christian Schrade was drawn back to his roots in content: as a political scientist, he now devotes himself to forward-looking topics at the interface of society, business, politics and the public again at Wider Sense.

Why did you choose working for Wider Sense?

Because here I help people with communication to inspire other people to help other people. Sounds complicated? Sometimes it is. And that‘s what‘s exciting about my work at Wider Sense: strategic communication for good things in thematically challenging waters.

What is a random fact about you?

As a whisky sommelier, I always like to have a good single malt with me for special occasions – when hiking around Scottish lochs, kayaking around Irish islands or looking out for Norwegian northern lights. When I‘m not travelling, my thoughts are drawn to faraway places: with historic ties to space travel and stories about the peaceful German revolution of 1989.
