Dr Jörg Schulte-Altedorneburg

As a senior expert at Wider Sense, Dr. Jörg Schulte-Altedorneburg advises individual donors, companies and foundations on the identification of relevant topics of philanthropic commitment, strategic positioning in the selected topic areas, impact-promoting networking and the further development of the necessary organizational structures.

He has many years of experience as co-managing director, program and project manager of the Düsseldorf office of the organization Porticus, an internationally oriented philanthropy consultancy that supports a globally active family of entrepreneurs and their family offices in the conceptual design and implementation of their philanthropic activities. His focus here was on programs and projects at the interface of education, religion and democracy, such as the project “Cohesion through Conflict”. He was also previously responsible for this topic area at the Herbert Quandt Foundation in the multi-year project on the “Future of the societal middle”. His conviction of the necessary balance between the three social arenas of politics, society and the economy has been greatly enhanced by his work in the organized economy, i.e. in the employers‘ associations (BDA), in the areas of education, society and economics.

Jörg Schulte-Altedorneburg studied Classical Philology (Greek/Latin) and Classical Archaeology at the Universities of Marburg and at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. He received his doctorate in Marburg in 2000. His studies aroused his great interest in education and social cohesion as well as in strategic thinking, which he was able to deepen not only professionally, but also in further education at the FernUniversität Hagen, the IESE Business School in Barcelona and at the Hertie School in Berlin.
