Yonca Erek
At Wider Sense, I can bring my experience from different sectors to bear in collaboration with actors from politics, business and civil society.
As an analyst at Wider Sense, Yonca Erek supports companies in their CSR activities and assists foundations in identifying and networking cooperation projects on a national and international level.
Prior to joining Wider Sense, Yonca Erek worked as a freelance consultant at the intersection of sustainability and business, and as a public sector project associate in event management for international digital conferences. Previously, she gained experience in project management and consulting in a wide range of sectors, including as a student assistant and intern at WWF, Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the export promotion office of the Chilean Embassy ProChile, and Daimler AG. Her interdisciplinary experience is particularly useful in the cooperation with the different network partners of Wider Sense.
Yonca Erek studied International Business Studies (B.S.) and completed a semester abroad in Argentina as part of her bachelor’s degree. In her master’s degree, she studied Latin American Studies with a focus on sustainable development (M.A.) at the FU Berlin. Her final thesis dealt with the sustainable impact of the Fairtrade label on coffee producers, using two coffee cooperatives in Peru and Colombia as a case study. Besides German and English, she also speaks Turkish and Spanish fluently. She is also involved in the Yesil Cember association for barrier-free and culturally sensitive environmental education.

What is a random fact about you?
I am a big fan of sunsets. For me, the most beautiful sunsets in Berlin are at Tempelhofer Feld - my favorite place in Berlin.
