Wider Sense is a certified B Corporation
Since mid 2015, Wider Sense has been in touch with B Labs, the American non-profit organisation which developed the B Corporation certification. B Labs certifies corporations and organisations that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Among other considerations, B Corps pay particular attention to the creation of benefits for all stakeholders, not just shareholders, the use of renewable energy, and accessibility of the B Corps Impact Report online. By now, there are almost 1,300 B Corps in over 40 countries and 120 different industries, which are all striving not to be the best in but for the world.
Wider Sense considers itself a social enterprise: we are in the business of enhancing the impact of our clients’ philanthropic and social investing endeavours. Based on this understanding and business model, exploring to become a B Corp was a logical next step. It was an exciting and insightful process to use the Global Impact Investing Rating System (GIIRS) in order to evaluate Wider Sense’s performance. The result: since May 2015 Wider Sense has joined the founding class of B Corps in Europe and is amongst the first five B Corp’s in Germany.
We are very much looking forward to working together and exchanging ideas with B Labs, other B Corps such as Patagonia or Ben & Jerry’s and all other organisations, that are equally keen to improve and measure their social and environmental impact.
