Anna Balzereit

Working at Wider Sense, I can bring the joy of analytical, interdisciplinary work to future-orientated projects for our clients.

As an analyst at Wider Sense, Anna Balzereit supports companies and foundations in the strategic development of their corporate citizenship initiatives and commitments. In this role, Anna benefits from her interdisciplinary academic background, which enables her to quickly grasp and analyse new topics.

Before joining Wider Sense, Anna Balzereit primarily gained experience in development cooperation contexts, including at the Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Her work there focussed on advisory work for multi-stakeholder partnerships and for the BMZ on the European Supply Chain Act. At WWF Germany, Anna also gained insights into international nature conservation work and internal organisational development. Her thematic focus is on nature conservation, and through her many years of voluntary work, including in advocacy and education, she now brings this in-depth knowledge to her work with Wider Sense.

Anna Balzereit learned to look at sustainable development topics from different disciplines during her interdisciplinary Bachelor’s programme in the Netherlands and her semester abroad at UC Berkeley (USA). This understanding of different approaches to social problems still characterises her way of thinking today. She deepened this knowledge in risk and vulnerability analysis during her Master’s programme in public policy and human development. In her Master’s thesis, Anna analysed stakeholder perceptions of nature conservation regulations in Germany.

Why did you choose working for Wider Sense?

What is inspiring about working at Wider Sense is that I am given the opportunity to support various social stakeholders in systematically developing, implementing and rethinking their contribution to a positive transformation of society based on evidence.

What is a random fact about you?

In my free time, I like to be out in the great outdoors, or you can find me in the kitchen tasting new recipes to balance out the intellectual aspects of my work.
